A new set photo of the Oppenheimer production gives a first look at Emily Blunt in costume for the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie. Best known for his work directing The Dark Knight trilogy and other mind-bending works like Inception and Interstellar, Nolan's next project will chronicle the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the key figures responsible for the invention of the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer follows 2020's Tenet, which, while generally popular with critics, failed to perform at the box office due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oppenheimer, which is based on American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, is shaping up to be one of Nolan's most ambitious projects yet, if only due to the film's impressive and seemingly ever-growing cast. With Cillian Murphy starring as the titular Oppenheimer, the film will see Emily Blunt in the role of his wife, Katherine «Kitty» Oppenheimer, and Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves Jr. The film will also feature performances from Florence Pugh, Kenneth Branagh, Robert Downey Jr., Jason Clarke, Rami Malek, Dane DeHaan, Josh Peck, Josh Hartnett, and others.

In a new set photo shared by Nicholas Thompson on Twitter, Blunt can be seen for the first time in costume during what appears to be a recreation of the ceremony in which Oppenheimer receives the Army-Navy «E» Award. The image sees Blunt off to the left of Murphy and Damon as members of the crew bustle about between takes. Although in the background and partly obscured by the set, Blunt is clearly wearing era-appropriate clothing. Check out the image below:
