Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Death on the Nile will begin streaming this month. Based on the 1937 novel by Agatha Christie, Death on the Nile stars Branagh as detective Hercule Poirot, a recurring character in the author's series of mystery books. Branagh first portrayed the character in 2017's Murder on the Orient Express, again based on a Christie novel, which had been previously adapted in 1974. Death on the Nile was also previously adapted in 1978 with Peter Ustinov and Mia Farrow.
The new adaptation stars (along with Branagh) Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright. Death on the Nile was adapted by Michael Green and is produced and directed by Branagh. The all-star ensemble takes place aboard a river steamer in Egypt during a couple's lavish honeymoon with friends and family, quickly turning to murder and mystery, which only the Belgian sleuth Poirot can solve.
