Further expanding its impressive catalog of games, Xbox Game Passwill be adding one of 2024's most anticipated RPGs to its lineup in April. With new games being added to the service each month, Game Pass boasts a consistently expanding library, sometimes even including major titles immediately upon their release, and while some games only stay for a limited time, the catalog generally gains more than it loses.
Releasing on April 23, will be playable at launch on Xbox Game Pass (via ), allowing subscribers to circumvent the game's $49.99 price tag on other platforms or consoles. Developed by Rabbit and Bear Studios, is a spiritual successor to the classic games,and is being directed and produced by the creator of the old series, Yoshitaka Murayama. Fittingly,the game has a similar core concept to , being a turn-based RPG where players recruit over 100 characters, with many of them serving as playable party members.
Although centers around the concept of recruiting over 100 characters, thegame does still center around three main protagonists, Nowa, Seign, and Marisa, each of whom serve as central focuses of the game's story, with other characters serving as extra party members or support for other aspects of the game. In terms of gameplay, theturn-based combat system serves as the core form of engagement, but the game also includes more strategy-focused war segments, and a base-building portion which grants access to several minigames.
Notably, does have an already-released prologue, , which is available on every platform that the main game is set to release on, including Game Pass. While its gameplay differs greatly from that of ', being more of an action-focused sidescroller with far fewer characters, could be an interesting game to try for anyone interested in the eventual release of, as many of the characters in will also feature in the main game as recruitable party members.
