Warning! Spoilers ahead for Obi-Wan #1
While he's the most gifted Jedi master in the Star Wars galaxy, Obi-Wan Kenobi's signature Force ability has been redefined and made even better. As seen in A New Hope, Obi-Wan was the first character audiences ever saw using a Jedi mind trick. However, it seems as though the ability to affect the weak-minded was always the go t0 move for Kenobi, dating back to his earliest days at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
Featured in the new Obi-Wan series from writer Christopher Cantwell and an all-star team of artists, «Old Ben» Kenobi is seen reflecting on a handful of never-before-seen moments from his past while waiting out a sandstorm during his exile on Tatooine, secretly protecting young Luke Skywalker (the galaxy's future hope). Deciding to make a record of his life in a series of journals, Kenobi looks back to one of his earliest challenges as a youngling. As such, this first issue takes place before he was chosen to be the Padawan of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.

In Obi-Wan #1 from Cantwell and Ario Anindito, young Kenobi is seen trying to convince his friend Gehren to stay at the Temple. Having dark visions of her father suffering, Gehren wants to leave the Temple to try and save him. Jumping down to the lower levels of the metropolitan world, Kenobi has no choice but to follow his only friend in their clan of younglings. However, Obi-Wan quickly finds himself surrounded by a gang of thugs. Needing to defend himself, Obi-Wan uses the Force to touch the mind and manipulate a nearby Rodian, hoping to influence the group to leave him alone.
