Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor says the newest Disney+ Star Wars streaming show is "really going to satisfy" fans. After first playing the character in 1999’s The Phantom Menace, McGregor is set to return to the Star Wars universe as famed Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Of course Kenobi was originally played on the big screen by Alec Guinness in the first blockbuster 1978 Star Wars. But while Guinness played Kenobi as a wise old wizard, McGregor played him in the Star Wars prequels as a young and action-oriented Jedi Knight rocketing around the galaxy for rollicking sci-fi adventures with his moody sidekick Anakin Skywalker. When McGregor once again dons the Jedi robes, he’ll explore Kenobi at a point in his life between where he was in the prequels and where ended up in the first Star Wars movie.

It’s likely of course that Obi-Wan Kenobi the show will lean more toward the action-oriented prequels version of the character and not merely show him as an old hermit living in a cave on the desert planet of Tatooine. Whatever the show has in store, McGregor himself believes its story will be well received by fans when it finally arrives on Disney+. He told Forbes:
«I’m not going to give away anything else about the storyline, only I think it’s really going to satisfy Star Wars fans. I always felt there was a story between Episode III where I finished playing Obi-Wan in the movies and Episode IV where Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi. The [Obi-Wan Kenobi series] writers and Deb [Chow] and I and everyone, I think we crafted or they crafted a very fine storyline. I think people are going to like it.”
