Obi-Wan Kenobi's Padawan Adventures Revealed in New Comic

Although audiences know Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Jedi Knight who took on an apprentice in Anakin Skywalker and then Luke Skywalker, his days as a Padawan have been unexplored. In a new Star Wars comic miniseries, fans will see his adventures when he was a youngling.
When Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace revealed Qui Gon Jinn as Obi-Wan’s Jedi Master, it made audiences feel similarly to the first mention of “the Clone Wars” in A New Hope. Their partnership made fans wonder what Obi-Wan’s training had been like alongside Qui Gon, before the master’s demise at the double-bladed lightsaber of Darth Maul. Obi-Wan’s journey from when he graduated as a Padawn to his final lightsaber fight with Darth Vader has been recorded, but this era of his life hasn’t been explored in new canon.

In the upcoming 5-issue miniseries Star Wars: Obi-Wan, the Jedi legend remembers his days as a youngling alongside Qui Gon Jinn. As revealed by a preview by StarWars.com, the first issue is set to feature flashbacks, as told by Obi-Wan while on Tatooine, writing in his journal about an adventure he had as an 8-year old boy on Coruscant. The miniseries is written by Christopher Cantwell (Iron Man, Doctor Doom) with art by Ario Anindito (Star Wars: The High Republic), and a cover by Phil Noto. The first issue also includes a “Japanese creator” variant cover by Peach Momoko, a variant by E.M. Gist, and a variant by Ario Anindito. A “movie” variant cover is also set to release alongside Obi-Wan #1 when it debuts in May.
