iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 users will heave a sigh of relief today! With the new iOS 15.4 update now out for everyone, Apple now allows these iPhone users to unlock their phone with Face ID while wearing their face masks! Yes, you read that right. That means no more taking down the mask to peep at your iPhone just to unlock it, or rely on the old-fashioned and inconvenient Passcode. The update is already available to download on all iPhones running on iOS 15.
The feature has been in testing for a few months and has now finally made it to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 series. Sadly, those using the iPhone 11 and older models won’t be getting this feature, considering the system requires the phone to spot special features around the eyes to unlock. Moreover, this feature will also ask users to take down the mask if it faces trouble in identifying the features around the yes. Face ID while wearing a mask can be used as authentication for unlocking iPhone, completing transactions with Apple Pay, and autofilling passwords in apps and Safari.
SharePlay can now be used directly from FaceTime calls as well as supported apps. Siri also gets a new voice for English speakers, and Apple says that it uses the Neural Text to Speed technology to offer a natural sound. There are 37 new emojis added to iOS 15.4, while the Visual Look Up feature makes it to India (Apple’s version of Google Lens). Live Text can be added to Notes and Reminders apps using the camera. Camera in keyboard can be used while in the Notes and Reminders apps to copy and paste text.
