Nvidia's new RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card seems to be mostly sold out already. It's still unclear whether the upgraded version of Nvidia's RTX 4080 card is unavailable due to high demand or low stock at launch.
The RTX 4080 SUPER was first announced in January at CES 2024 alongside Nvidia's other new 40 SUPER Series graphics cards. The lineup included three GPUs, with the 4080 SUPER being the most powerful and expensive of the trio. The card offers a marginal improvement over the original 4080 (about 3-5% faster) but costs $200 less at an MSRP of $999. The 4080 was already a powerful GPU, so these attributes led the 4080 SUPER to receive solid review scores from most outlets. Unfortunately, it's going to be difficult to get a hold of one in the near future.
VideoCardz reported that the RTX 4080 SUPER is out of stock at all major online US retailers, although the card can still be purchased through in-store pickup at certain Best Buy and Micro Center locations. However, this option will likely cost more than the $999 MSRP due to them being custom cards. Nvidia's other new 40 Series refresh cards, the RTX 4070 SUPER and RTX 4070 TI SUPER, are still in stock at most retailers. It's unclear whether the RTX 4080 SUPER's rapidly disappearing stock is due to high demand, due to Nvidia diverting more resources toward the other two more budget-friendly cards, or a combination of both.
Recently, many of Nvidia's high-end graphics cards have been sold at extremely expensive prices, such as ASUS' ROG MATRIX RTX 4090 releasing at a $3,199 MSRP before shooting up to over $8,000 in China. It's possible that the RTX 4080 SUPER releasing at a more reasonable price point of $999 created a significant amount of demand for the high-end card, especially following the original RTX 4080's poorly regarded release at a price point of $1,199.
It's also possible that Nvidia chose to divert more resources towards the RTX 4070 SUPER and RTX 4070 TI SUPER. These cards offer bigger improvements over
