Xbox's future hardware has come into question recently after reports that the company would be bringing some of its previously exclusive titles to competitive platforms, but thanks to some new information from Xbox, it sounds like there's actually good reason to be looking forward to the next generation. Microsoft has struggled in recent years to remain directly competitive with Sony, with respectable hardware sales failing to translate to a comparable level of success. The split release of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S attempted to appeal to both enthusiasts and casual fans, but it hasn't been enough.

This is a big promise to make, but it makes it clear that Xbox doesn't have any plans to step back from the console race and let its competitors steer the future. Depending on what Sony brings to the table, Microsoft might actually be trying to outstrip the PlayStation 6, which could be very exciting for fans.
It should still be some time before the release of the next generation of Xbox, as the length of the last couple of Xbox generations would point to the Xbox Series X/S only being in the middle of its life cycle.
