In multiple 10.1 interviews, Morgan Day announced that a new gear upgrade system is coming in Patch 10.1!
New Upgrade System in Patch 10.1A new upgrade system will be occurring in Patch 10.1 replacing the current upgrade gear from Mythic+, Primal Storms, PvP into a universal upgrade system. Combining these two currencies will allow you to upgrade your gear to an item level relative to the type of crest you have and your content cleared. This system will be available on the PTR early on in the 10.1 PTR cycle.
