Cyberpunk 2077 is set to receive yet another update next week, CD Projekt Red has confirmed, in addition to sharing a few more details about the upcoming patch. The studio's announcement should be welcome news for the fans who have been experiencing an uptick of issues following the last major update for Cyberpunk 2077.
Despite its infamously troubled launch, CDPR's dystopian RPG has become synonymous with a well-supported game, having been treated to over a dozen impactful patches over the past three years. The latest such major release arrived in the form of Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0, which transformed many of the game's core systems and introduced over 200 changes back in September. But as is often the case in complex software development, that large-scale revamp also introduced some new bugs.
Although CDPR managed to address most of those issues in the months that followed, the studio is not yet done polishing the game, having said as much in a recent social media update. Taking to Twitter, a company representative revealed that yet another Cyberpunk 2077 patch is in the works and slated for release during the week of January 29. The update will aim to address «the most common issues» that the players continue to report, including some of the bugged finisher animations that were broken by Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1.
Given CDPR's historic reluctance to push out game patches over the weekend, it is likely that the next patch will roll out sometime between January 29 and Friday, February 2. The rough contents of Cyberpunk 2077's first 2024 update were already leaked in early January, having been scraped via the Steam web application programming interface (API).
Back in December, CD Projekt Red said it was done with Cyberpunk 2077 following the debut of the RPG's 2.1 update. But as its latest announcement demonstrates, this end-of-life period clearly won't preclude or be immune to hotfixes. It hence stands to reason that the developer will keep fixing critical issues
