Ms. Marvel writer Sana Amanat reacts to the show's recreation of the iconic lamppost scene from the comics. The Ms. Marvel MCU show is the latest to premiere on Disney+, introducing audiences to a new, younger hero in the form of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). The show follows Kamala's journey trying to fit in at school while also dealing with her newfound superpowers. Created by Bisha K. Ali, the series will be feature six episodes in total, matching other MCU shows like Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Moon Knight.
Ms. Marvel episode 1 was released on Disney+ on Wednesday, earning rave reviews from critics and audiences, with the show currently sitting at a lofty 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the show overall, it recently became the latest in a long line of recent media to be review-bombed, although the reason why is currently unclear. Like many other MCU shows and movies, Ms. Marvel does deviate from the comics in some ways, with Kamala's powers, in particular, seeing major changes. In addition to Vellani, Ms. Marvel also stars Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Yasmeen Fletcher, Alysia Reiner, and Rish Shah, among others.
