Mortal Kombat 1 just got a brand-new launch trailer that finally revealed the long-leaked Reiko.
We even get to see his X-ray in action as he throws his spear through Raiden and proceeds to crush his skull into scattering fragments in classic, gory MK fashion. His look is ripped right from the 3D era, except now he lacks glowing eyes, but his chest is still out in the open for everyone to see.

Reiko hasn't had a full appearance since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon in 2006. Back then, in the original, original timeline, he was an outworlder and general in Shao Kahn's army. He has made appearances since, however, with cameos in MK9, MKX, and MK11, but this is the first time he has been a playable character in 17 years.
The trailer also gives us a better look at Megan Fox's Nitara in action, as well as the Jean-Claude Van Damme Johnny Cage skin. He's the inspiration behind JC and was even asked to appear in the first Mortal Kombat, though he turned the role down. Aside from characters, the trailer offers brief snippets of Invasions gameplay, the Krypt replacement that is one part Mario Party, one part Mortal Kombat, and the return of minigames like Test Your Might.
With Reiko's reveal, we now know for certain that every character in MK1 is a returning one, something that hasn't happened in 12 years since Mortal Kombat 9. However, it did introduce Skarlet in a DLC. Mortal Kombat X introduced far more in its base game, with the Kombat Kids (Takeda, Jacqui Briggs, Cassie Cage, and Kung Jin), as well as Erron Black, Kotal Kahn, Ferra-Torr, and D'vorah.
