A Mortal Kombat 1 modder has made Kameo fighters like Jax, Sareena, and Stryker fully playable by swapping out their movesets with other characters on the roster.
Although Mortal Kombat 1 can't possibly make every fan happy by pulling an Armageddon and making every MK fighter in history playable, it does have the next best thing in the form of Kameo fighters. This new mechanic allows slightly less popular characters a chance to shine and be in the game without having dedicated movesets or being involved in the story at all.
Kameo Fighters might eventually live up to their namesake even more, as Ed Boon has previously noted that even guest characters could show up as Kameos, opening the door to pretty much anyone showing up in Mortal Kombat.
As great as it is to see long-lost characters like Stryker, Motaro, and Sareena show up in these Kameo slots and finally make an appearance in a new Mortal Kombat game after so long, they show so much promise that a lot of fans have been calling for them to be turned into controllable fighters in the future. While that seems unlikely to happen with most of Mortal Kombat 1's DLC plans having been datamined already, we're at least one step closer to that dream thanks to a Mortal Kombat modder.
The modder in question is ermaccer, who has previously modded Mortal Kombat 1 to make it first-person, add in an unused tag-team mode, and much more. This time around, though, they've started to make Kameos fully playable fighters by giving their models the moveset of another fighter.
