Morbius uses the same VFX tech as Avengers: Endgamedid for Thanos, according to visual effects supervisor Matthew E. Butler. The upcoming film will act as the third installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe following 2018's Venom and 2021's Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The always entertaining and sometimes controversial actor Jared Leto stars as the titular Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist whose attempts to cure himself of a rare blood disease unintentionally inflicts him with a form of transgenic vampirism, but with none of the weaknesses generally associated with the creatures.
Doctor Who's Matt Smith stars as Loxias Crown, Michael's friend who suffers from the same rare blood disease and serves as the film's primary villain. Adria Arjona stars as Morbius's love interest, Martine Bancroft, while Jared Harris is a professor who acts as his mentor. Tyrese Gibson and Al Madrigal round out the cast as two FBI agents hunting Morbius. Michael Keaton, who played Adrian Tomes a.k.a Vulture in the MCU movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, will reprise the role in some capacity.
