The history of the Egyptian gods in Moon Knight makes the worst idea for the X-Men’s MCU debut even more likely to happen. Ever since it was first reported that Disney was acquiring the rights to the X-Men from Fox, there’s been speculation over exactly how the MCU will handle the team’s introduction. Marvel’s plans for the X-Men is one of the biggest mysteries concerning the MCU’s long-term future.
Introducing Marvel’s Merry Mutants is considered to be a huge creative challenge for the MCU. In the comic books, their debut wasn’t that complicated since the X-Men were introduced around the same time as the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and Spider-Man. All of them burst onto the scene between 1961 and 1963. However, the situation with the MCU is completely different. The MCU is over ten years old, which means Marvel will have a problem on its hands when Marvel’s first X-Men movie finally happens. Marvel will have to provide a good reason for why mutants have had no presence (or even a mention) in any prior MCU installment.

Moon Knight episode 3 strengthened the possibility of Marvel going with the least interesting option for their absence. It was explained during the secret meeting of the Egyptian gods that they haven’t been around simply because they agreed not to interfere in the affairs of mankind. This creates a problematic trend with the MCU, as Marvel used the same logic to make sense of why the Eternals didn’t show up until Phase 4.
