In Monark, the best way to level up is by calling numbers on your cell phone and being transported to the Otherworld for a battle. The game will warn you very early on that randomly dialing will lead to incredibly tough fights against foes you'll have no chance of beating at the start of the game.

You'll have to build up a full address book of working numbers that transport you to the correct, intended battlefields. These will be full of enemies that either drop valuable Vessels with which you make your Fiends stronger, or provide you with big Spirit rewards.

These contacts are perfect for getting a ton of Spirit and are the intended way to power up your party whenever you feel like you're slipping behind your foes.

There are a ton of contacts in the game that have vastly increased odds for enemies dropping Vessels. Since Vessels are always randomized, it's useful to have battlefields that only drop certain types, especially if you're angling towards a certain Fiend nickname or even a certain style.

There are eight categories of battlefield for Vessel grinding.

Abyssal battlefields are what you'll encounter if you type in a number that does not correspond to any of the actual coded numbers in the game. These battlefields will pit you against a large team of incredibly powerful enemies to punish you for your mistake - but it's both quick and without penalty to just Give Up the fight from the main menu.

Once you have beaten the game, however, you can dial Abyssal Numbers to grind, challenge yourself, and possibly get random number drops.
