ZTE announced the Nubia Z40 Pro smartphone on Friday, and it is already making waves as the first Android device to officially include a MagSafe-like magnetic charging feature. The company has been teasing the Nubia Z40 Pro extensively on Chinese social media over the past few days. It is the latest device in the Nubia lineup, and is an upgrade over the Nubia Z30 Pro announced last year.
Apple debuted MagSafe in 2020 as part of its iPhone 12 lineup, enabling users to connect accessories like wireless chargers, cases and wallets to phones using magnets. While other vendors like Realme has demoed a similar feature called MagDart, support for the feature is not yet available on an actual smartphone. As a result, the magnetic charging feature has remained exclusive to iPhones until now.

The Nubia Z40 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The phone features a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. On the imaging side of things, the Z40 Pro sports a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor and an f/1.6 7P lens 35mm equivalent lens with OIS. There's also a 50MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP
