HBO Max has released a new trailer for its upcoming documentary, Gaming Wall Street. The two-part series, directed by Tobias Deml, examines the 2021 GameStop stock battle and how a community of home investors managed to expose the dark underbelly of Wall Street. The story captivated news headlines last year and helped to burgeon in real governmental scrutiny of the financial market while also rescuing an iconic video game retailer, now chaired by Ryan Cohen.

Now, the new trailer shared by HBO Max provides a brief glimpse at how Redditors took on the behemoth of Wall Street. Featuring interviews with insiders from the stock battle, the series promises an in-depth breakdown of events and their wider impact on the “rigged” system. Describing the GameStop short as a “middle finger to the hedge fund,” the documentary also focuses on the illegal activity exposed within Wall Street and the investigations which have been sparked since January 2021. Succession star Kieran Culkin narrates the series based on one of the biggest events of last year, despite continued fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. The documentary was reportedly created due to Deml’s desire to educate others on investing, while also paying homage to the David and Goliath-inspired stock battle and its leaders. The series marks the most recent project focused on the stock phenomenon, following the positive release of Jonah Tulis’ documentary film, GameStop: Rise of the Players. A number of dramatized film adaptations are also in the works from the likes of Netflix and MGM. Gaming Wall Street debuts on HBO Max on March 3.
