April will bring a variety of movies and some highly-anticipated titles as well, among those a comic book movie that was delayed multiple times, a sequel to a video-game adaptation, Michael Bay’s latest action movie, a new adventure from the Wizarding World, and a Scandinavian legend. The world is slowly but surely going back to normal even though the coronavirus pandemic is still going, and cinemas all over the world are still open and operating as normal. This has allowed studios to release those movies that had to be delayed, although many are still choosing to either send them directly to streaming platforms, release them simultaneously in theaters and streaming, or reduce the window between theatrical and streaming releases.
Surprisingly, March didn’t see many movies arriving in theaters and only a couple of big projects hit the big screen, as were Matt Reeves’ The Batman, the supernatural horror movie Umma, the slasher movie X, and the adventure comedy The Lost City. Most of the movie releases in March had their premieres at South by Southwest Festival, so unlike other recent releases, they aren’t scheduled for a streaming release yet, except for After Yang, which had a simultaneous release on Showtime. March also welcomed movies that premiered at other festivals weeks prior, as was the case of the crime drama The Outfit and the thriller Alice.
