Nacho's conflict with the Salamanca cousins in Better Call Saul season 6, episode 2, «Carrot and Stick» draws direct comparisons to their gunfight with Hank in Breaking Bad season 3, and makes their deaths even sweeter. Leonel and Marco Salamanca are two of the most intimidating characters in the world of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Known for their goatees, grey suits, and snakeskin boots with skull toecaps, the twins were born into the Salamance family where «family is all,» and raised to be merciless and voiceless killers. As hitmen for the Salamanca family, they pursue Nacho in Better Call Saul season 6, which makes for ominous times for Michael Mando's character.
After Nacho betrayed the Salamanca family by aiding Gus Fring's attempted assassination of Lalo, Don Eladio puts a price on Nacho's head, and Leonel and Marco are charged with bringing Nacho in alive. In Better Call Saul season 4, the twins kill everyone in a gang headquarters that Nacho describes as a «fortress,» demonstrating why they have such an aura of invincibility. In season 6, episode 2, they track Nacho down to the motel he hides at and a gunfight ensues.

The shoot-out between Nacho and the cousins is reminiscent of the cousins' attack on Hank in Breaking Bad season 3 as both take place in a car park and include both Hank and Nacho attempting to run over their attackers. The differences between how Nacho and Hank deal with the cousins underscores Hank's intelligence and training, as he prevails whereas Nacho does not.
