Better Call Saul season 6 has left audiences shocked by the sudden death of a major character so early into the season. Since Better Call Saul season 6 is indeed its last hurrah, the idea that characters important to the show would die on the way out isn't in itself surprising. After all, Breaking Bad's final season saw many major characters die, including Hank Schrader, Mike Ehrmantraut, and of course Walter White himself. Still, those deaths came pretty late in the final season — not in episode 3.
On the other hand, one of the challenges facing Better Call Saul's final season is that since this is a prequel to Breaking Bad, any character alive during that show is guaranteed to not die. Thus, Gus, Mike, Hank, Huell, Victor, Hector, Lalo, and Jimmy/Saul himself are all protected by being alive in the future story. Still, Better Call Saul has added some great characters to the Breaking Bad world, including Howard Hamlin, Nacho Varga, and Kim Wexler, who many predict won't survive season 6.

As Better Call Saul season 6, episode 3 «Rock and Hard Place» revealed, the first of those three to meet their maker was Nacho Varga. Introduced early on in Better Call Saul as more of a side character, Nacho's role grew in size and importance as time went on, helped along by a fantastic performance from actor Michael Mando.
