Call of Duty fans are waiting for the next entry into the franchise, Modern Warfare 2. So far, we have seen the worldwide reveal, which welcomed back members of Task Force 141. We were also treated to some gameplay from an action packed campaign mission. Coming up is a Call of Duty Next event that will give us more details about what we can expect from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Until then, all we have to go off are details from leaks, with the latest leak suggesting that intel could return in Modern Warfare 2 in the rumored DMZ mode.
Prominent Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope tweeted that Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode could have intel. Collecting intel around the map acts as a collectible, which gives you more information about the story and the characters involved. The leak points out that intel hasn’t been in Call of Duty: Warzone since 2020. Also, it’s noted that the return of intel relates to RalphsValve’s claim that the narrative in the campaign will continue to feed through the DMZ mode.
Without confirmation from Activision or Infinity Ward, we don’t know for certain if intel will feature in Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode. For now, we have to take leaks with a pinch of salt. After all, we haven’t heard any official details about the DMZ mode just yet. In addition, the leaks relating to the game mode have been quite mixed. At first, it was thought that the mode would be similar to Escape from Tarkov. However, the most recent leak shuts down claims that it could be a stand-alone and free-to-play game. If intel does return, it’s likely that it will be popular as it will allow fans to dive deeper into the story.
All will become clear when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 officially launches on October 28.
