The Tata Tiago is an interesting ICE powered hatch back and now, an EV version of the same is coming soon. Expected to make the EV ownership more affordable, the Tiago EV is expected to carry a starting price lower than Rs. 10 lakhs and could be based on the Tigor EV platform. Ahead of its launch on September 28, Tata Motors has revealed that the Tiago EV will come with some advanced driving modes. One of them is regenerative braking modes, which is not easily available in affordable EVs. The Tigor EV itself lacks regen braking modes but Tigor EV will bring the same in a smaller footprint. Regen braking allows drivers to recharge the car's batteries as soon as they lift the foot off the pedal, which also helps with single foot driving.
While the regenerative braking modes are a big deal for EV drivers, Tata Motors is also adding a useful driving aid on the Tiago EV. The company is going to provide the cruise control feature on the Tiago EV, which is rare for a compact hatchback car in India. Cruise control should technically let you maintain a desired speed and gap on highways and lets the car do the acceleration and braking for you.
That said, Ola did a “Cruise Control” on its S1 Pro electric scooter and that was a different concept altogether. The Ola S1 Pro's Cruise Control simple allowed riders to select a speed and let the vehicle maintain it automatically – braking has to be done manually. Will Tata Motors do the same with the Tiago EV, given that it will be a budget EV car and Cruise Control sensors are expensive.
Tata Motors will
