Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One already looks like an absolute head-turner in the spy movie genre as even its top secret trailer delivered an exciting weekend for fans and Paramount Pictures. Nevertheless, the studio just fired back with the official preview for what already seems like one of 2023’s biggest blockbusters.
This past Saturday, the long-awaited teaser for Mission Impossible 7 was somehow leaked online, and though most videos were quickly taken down, anyone with internet access and enough motivation could have found the footage on Twitter by now. The news left Paramount with little option beyond releasing the video in pristine quality, yet according to early online reactions, Tom Cruise’s penultimate film as Ethan Hunt shows so much promise and excitement it’s anyone’s guess why the trailer wasn’t out earlier.

The preview plays on a familiar narrative for the world’s second most famous secret agent as Ethan Hunt is given a speech by former IMF director from the first Mission: Impossible Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny), about how a man like Hunt can find his place in a world where the line between good and evil gets blurrier with every new entry. Beyond that, Lorne Balfe’s score massive welcomes a new series of stunts and action scene teasers that show Cruise doing his best driving in the streets of Italy or jumping off a cliff in a motorcycle to prove the Top Gun: Maverick star can pull off stunts like few other actors.
