To help users enjoy the best of virtual reality, Meta is launching Meta Quest+(Opens in a new window), a paid subscription service with huge discounts on the best VR games.
“For just $7.99 USD per month or $59.99 USD annually (a savings of over 37%), you’ll get access to two hand-picked VR titles every month,” Meta says.
Meta promises access to top hits and hidden gems. “Whether you’re a seasoned VR gamer or new to the medium, it can be hard to know where to start when exploring the Meta Quest catalog. But there’s a catch: “You get to keep each title as long as you’re a Meta Quest+ subscriber, so the value builds over time,” the company says. That said, if you choose to rejoin, you’ll regain all of the titles you had from your original subscription period.
Another downside is that Meta Quest+ only works on the Quest 2, Quest Pro, and the upcoming Quest 3 headset. There’s no support for the original Meta Quest, which debuted in 2019.
The first two titles to be offered are Pistol Whip(Opens in a new window), a western-themed FPS shooter, and Pixel Ripped 1995(Opens in a new window), which pays homage to the old-school video game experiences from the 1990s. Pistol Whip normally retails for $29.99 while Pixel Ripped 1995 goes for $19.99.
Meta adds: “And for August, subscribers can look forward to a uniquely compelling social VR experience in Mighty Coconut’s Walkabout Mini Golf and some frantic weapon-crafting and shooter action in Mothergunship: Forge from Terrible Posture Games.”
