Those of you who caught the third and final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom yesterday may have heard a familiar voice when Ganondorf revealed himself. That's because the guy voicing the Zelda villain is none other than the man of a thousand voices himself, Matthew Mercer.
"I just got the go-ahead from Nintendo, so I can FINALLY announce my absolute pleasure to be voicing Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom," wrote Mercer soon after the trailer dropped yesterday. "An immense honor that I have thrown myself into doing justice."

You've almost certainly heard Matthew Mercer even if you didn't know his name. He's been in so many anime and video games that his IMDB scrolls until your finger gets tired, but just to list a few, he's the male protagonist in Midnight Suns, Cassidy in Overwatch 2, Falco in Edgerunners, Levi in Attack on Titan, Goro Majima in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Hunter Touchdown in No More Heroes III, and provides lots of random voices for The Last of Us Part II, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Red Dead Redemption 2, and dozens upon dozens more.
This won't be Mercer's first time portraying Ganondorf, however, "I have been an immense Legend of Zelda fan since I was a child, and Ganondorf has been one of my favorite antagonists," he wrote, "to the point where I portrayed this green-skinned menace for my webseries over a decade ago!"
It seems Matt is well aware of "the weight of expectation" for taking on such a huge role, and he's eager to do fans "proud" by portraying "such a badass." We'll get to hear more of Mercer's sultry notes when super sexy Ganon gets to make his debut in Tears
