Pokemon Go Network The Silph Road Is Ceasing Operations
It's seems like thing are going from bad to worse for Pokemon Go players, as popular and beloved networking site The Silph Road is ceasing operations after seven years due to "mounting financial constraints" and the "landscape of the game in 2023". Pokemon Go developer Niantic had sponsored the site last year to keep it running, but that sponsorship has now concluded, with no signs that it will continue to fund the site.
The Silph Road made the announcement via both Twitter and its dedicated subreddit, thanking the community for all the support over the past seven years. It explains that The Silph Road subreddit will remain active, as its moderators work independently from the main Silph team, but that it will begin winding down tools, programs, and community resources starting from today.

Currently, a number of services and community resources have already been retired and are inaccessible, including the main website's Community Map and Nest Atlus. However, it states that The Silph Arena will remain operational until the end of the current season and that the Arena Hall of Fame will be screenshotted and archived. On August 1, the remaining services will then be pulled and The Silph Road will be no more.
Pokemon Go was already in a rough spot with the fanbase due to unpopular changes to Remote Raid Passes, and the closure of such a beloved community like The Silph Road will do little to reassure fans that the title isn't dying a very slow death. You don't have to look far into the Reddit thread by The Silph Road to find Pokemon Go players blaming Niantic for the rapid departure of similar content creators and communities.
