Mass Effect 5 boss says ‘wait and see’ if a major feature will return
videogameschronicle.comMass Effect 5’s director has said fans will have to “wait and see” if the morality system from the Mass Effect trilogy will return in the next game.
Little is known about the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise, with Bioware only releasing short trailers and concept art.
However, a fan believes they have discovered a hint towards the return of the game’s paragon and renegade system in some concept art that was posted by Gamble in 2024. The image shows what seems to be a character from the next game, with stylized lights which resemble the paragon logo from the original trilogy.

In response, director Michael Gamble said, “I was talking about the trilogy. You’ll just have to wait and see…”
The paragon and renegade system in the original trilogy served as the game’s morality system. Performing actions that the game considered morally good boosted the player’s Paragon level, with the opposite being the case for Renegade.
This would offer the player extra options, such as Renegade players being able to speak to a news reporter and respond to one of her questions by kicking them through a window.
Franchise director and executive producer Mike Gamble said last year that the new Mass Effect will “maintain the mature tone of the original trilogy” and have photorealistic visuals “as long as I’m running it”.
It’s been claimed that the next Mass Effect game might not be released until 2029 or later.
