Marvel Studios has finally announced the release date for its newest Disney+ animated series. It is based on the Marvel comic book series created by Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips, which was first published in 2005.
Marvel Zombies is scheduled to make its debut later this year on October 3, 2025, on Disney+. Set in an alternate reality, the show reimagines the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge. It will feature the voices of returning MCU stars Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani.

The series is directed by Bryan Andrews from a screenplay written by Zeb Wells, who is also serving as an executive producer. It is inspired by the fifth episode from Season 1 of What If…?, in which the MCU films Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018) ended in a zombie apocalypse. In a press release, Andrews teased that the show will feature “more hardcore” and “pretty wild” zombie sequences, different from what was shown in What If…?
Vellani previously confirmed that her character Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel will have a central role in the series. “We’ve done the whole thing,” Vellani said. “It was amazing. It was so much fun... There are a lot of cool characters in the Marvel Zombies show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show. They described it to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I was like, ‘That’s amazing.'”
