Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the hotly anticipated sequel to Insomniac’s 2018 hit, made an impact with its gameplay reveal at the PlayStation Showcase. It featured new abilities and gadgets, fast traversal, detailed environments and a stellar chase to close everything out. Some may not have been as impressed with it as others, but take heart since the gameplay wasn’t from the final build.
When asked about the same on Twitter, if the gameplay was really from the final build, Insomniac community director James Stevenson shared a GIF of Seth Meyers that started with laughter and ended with an emphatic “No.” It isn’t the first time that the visual fidelity of an Insomniac title has faced doubts – look up “Puddlegate” from the first Marvel’s Spider-Man for more details.
As for the sequel, it’s releasing in Fall 2023, exclusively for PS5. Insomniac will share more details soon, including the release date and when pre-orders go live, so stay tuned.
