Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation 5 will launch globally on October 20 for PlayStation 5, Insomniac has announced.
The joyful news was announced by Insomniac's creative director on the game, Brian Intihar, during the Sumer Game Fest 2023 event. Another interesting tidbit that Intihar revealed was that Venom won't be Eddie Brock in the game. Instead, a different person has been the subject of the Venom symbiote in Spider-Man 2 and the creative director urged fans to play the game to discover who Venom is.
We knew that Spider-Man 2 would be arriving this fall, and for quite some time there have been rumors that the highly-anticipated sequel would be arriving in September, but as confirmed by Insomniac, the sequel will be arriving this October.
As covered last week, Spider-Man 2 will mix a darker tone with lighter moments. "They do a great job", Intihar said in a recent interview. "But, it's very, very difficult. But that's what we owe to the players. We owe that to them, to find that balance between these darker themes with the Symbiote and Kraven and Venom, and maybe others. But also, you know, to make people laugh."
Spider-Man 2 launches globally for PS5 on October 20- in the same month as Assassin's Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2, Alone in the Dark, and Lords of the Fallen, but as you might have noticed, a month later than Microsoft's highly-anticipated Starfield and Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat 1.
Last month, Sony and Insomniac debuted a lengthy gameplay video for Spider-Man 2. We've included this video below for those who haven't seen it just yet (or for those who just want to see it again):
Kraven’s Hunters are in pursuit of Dr. Curt Connors, AKA The Lizard, and Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, need to stop them.
