At the recent PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games showed off an extensive gameplay reveal for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and though a release date wasn’t confirmed, the developer said promptly afterward that more details on that front would be coming soon. Soon has turned out to be sooner than expected, because a launch date has been announced for the title.
At Summer Game Fest, creative director Bryan Intihar took to stage and announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be out on October 20, which means it’s hitting its Fall launch window as expected.
Meanwhile, Intihar also brought two new pieces of concept art showcasing two of the game’s primary villains, Kraven the Hunter and Venom, both of whom we saw in the recent gameplay reveal. Intihar has also confirmed that there are “many more” villains in the game that we don’t yet know about, while he also said that the Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is not Eddie Brock. Who exactly is he then? We’ll find out in the game itself.
The key art for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has also been revealed, and prominently features both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, both of whom are, of course, going to be the two playable protagonists of the game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is in development for PS5.
