A former Spider-Man foe, Hobie Brown, has now taking up the mantle of the superhero the Hornet and his apartment is outfitted with some pretty incredible tech. While he doesn't make a big deal about it, one item could completely change the game for superheroes in the Marvel Universe, particularly when it comes to teleporters.
Originally, Hobie Brown was a thief known as the Prowler. Although a criminal, he was never considered an all-out villain. After finding love, Hobie decided to hang up his Prowler outfit. But recently, he started donning an old Peter Parker persona, the Hornet, using a new suit of his own design. In Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY, written by Geoffrey Thorne and illustrated by Jim Towe and Jan Bazaldua, Hobie is president of a crowdfunding platform that he hopes to use to help people, but he's surprised to learn that the company has been sold without his knowledge. The company bounces around between different corporate entities before finally arriving under the control of the Beyond Corporation.

Distrustful of Beyond's motivations, Hobie reluctantly returns to his old career as a thief and uses his Hornet suit to break into Beyond and steal some documents. While there he is followed by Dusk, another old Peter Parker persona now being used by Cassie St. Commons. Her suit grants her the ability to teleport, but when she tries to teleport into Hobie’s apartment she gets stuck in a sort of anti-teleportation net. Hobie mentions this casually as if this type of technology isn't revolutionary in the world of superheroes.
