The Night Comes For Us was one of the best action movies of 2018, but is the planned spinoff Night Of The Operator still coming? Silat expert Iko Uwais became an international action icon thanks to his starring role in The Raid, a ferocious Indonesian action movie where his SWAT team member is forced to fight his way up a high-rise building full of criminals out to kill him. Uwais and director Gareth Evans soon returned with The Raid 2, which upped both the scope of the story and martial arts mayhem.
He starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in 2018's Mile 22, and in the same year, The Night Comes For Us cast Iko Uwais with his Raid franchise co-stars Joe Taslim and Julie Estelle. The movie was directed by Timo Tjahjanto and revolves around Taslim's Ito, an elite enforcer for the Triads who goes against orders by saving the life of a young girl he was sent to kill, and a wave of assassins is sent after him — including Uwais' Arian, a former friend.

The Night Comes For Us 2018 was loaded with blistering and bloody action, though its ending didn't seem to suggest a sequel. That said, Julie Estelle's mysterious assassin The Operator became a breakout character, and talk of a spinoff focusing on her was raised, but will it happen?
Very little is revealed about The Operator in The Night Comes For Us, who is sent to kill Ito but ends up helping him for her own reasons. A spinoff could greatly flesh out the character, and give Julie Estelle an action franchise of her own. In 2020 Timo Tjahjanto confirmed he'd penned a "badass" story treatment for Night Of The Operator with screenwriter Aaron Stewart-Ahn (Mandy), though no story details were offered.
