Outlander star Sam Heughan denies rumors he might be the next actor to play James Bond. Daniel Craig most recently portrayed 007, appearing in five films — most recently 2021's No Time to Die. That installment marked the conclusion of the serialized story told over Craig's tenure, and also saw his iteration of Bond die onscreen. With those developments, the search is on for Craig's successor. No official announcement has been made, but rumors continue to persist.
Scottish actor Heughan seems to be one of the names popping up in current speculation. He's addressed the possibility of playing 007 in the past. It was only a year ago Heughan stated any actor would want to play James Bond. Given his openness on the subject so far, some have started to believe he's actual already been cast as the new Bond. However, that doesn't appear to be the case right now.

In an interview with The Daily Fix to promote Outlander season 6, Heughan was asked about rumors addressing the possible role as the celebrated character, James Bond, to which he denies. However, he does admit in the interview that he has auditioned for the role previously, and was pleasantly surprised to hear the rumors surface.
“I’m not sure who started that rumor, but I mean, it is a nice one. I think any British actor, or any actor really, would love to play that part. It’s no secret that I’ve talked about it, or at least that I auditioned for it years ago. But who knows? There’s no truth to it at the moment.”
Heughan is just one of the many names rumored to be in the running for Bond. Other supposed frontrunners include The Witcher's Henry Cavill and Venom's Tom Hardy, so it will be interesting
