Paramount and Apple released the second trailer for Martin Scorsese's film Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone. Set for a theatrical release on October 20, the Apple Original film will later be available for streaming on Apple TV+.
Based on David Grann's non-fiction 2017 novel of the same name, the story investigates the harrowing murders of Osage people in Oklahoma during the 1920s. The film also explores the romance between Enerest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Gladstone) amidst the immense wealth of a Native American nation. The narrative stitches together tales of true love and unimaginable betrayal.
Described as an «epic western crime saga,» the film portrays the Osage Nation's sudden riches from the oil industry, attracting opportunistic individuals who manipulated and stole their wealth before resorting to murder.
In addition to the lead actors, the ensemble cast includes Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbot Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepard, Jason Isbell, and Sturgill Simpson.
Following its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Killers of the Flower Moon received warm attention from critics. In Variety's review, Killers of the Flower Moon is described as a «meaty but demanding true-crime saga.»
The film was produced in collaboration with Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions, and Appian Way.
The movie marks Scorsese's return to narrative filmmaking since The Irishman for Netflix in 2019.
