Malia White made her mark as the first female bosun on Below Deck Mediterranean, and she recently revealed why she won’t be returning for season 7. Fans first saw Malia as a green deckhand in Below Deck Med season 2. Malia’s first season was a bit controversial. Both Bosun Wesley and Chef Adam Glick were interested in her romantically. However, she gravitated more towards Wesley, who was impressed by her work ethic and made her the lead deckhand. Later, it was revealed that Malia and Adam had met prior to being on Below Deck Med and had a brief fling, despite acting like they had just met on the boat.
After Below Deck Med season 2, Malia took a break from the show and came back for season 5 as a bosun. As a woman with an all-male deck team, Malia had to prove herself as a leader. Much to her annoyance, deckhand Peter Hunziker kept calling her “sweetie,” which she had to call him out for. Malia made waves when she outed Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier for having unregistered anxiety medication and a CBD vape pen on board. Captain Sandy Yawn had no choice but to fire Hannah, which fans were outraged over. Malia’s return for Below Deck Med season 6 was thankfully a lot more drama-free and her deck crew worked well under her leadership.
