While they have since joined the same side, Goku and Vegeta have been rivals ever since they first met, something that has remained true through even in the later chapters of Dragon Ball Super. However, on the precipice of a multiversal tournament, it is revealed that the rivalry between Goku and Vegeta is not Super’s greatest one.
Vegeta first met Goku after he invaded Earth along with his fellow Sayain Warrior, Nappa. After their initial battle, Vegeta and Goku found themselves on the same side while fighting Frieza and his army on Planet Namek where Goku once again proved his superiority by unlocking the Super Saiyan form for the first time while Vegeta hadn’t even dreamed of accomplishing such a feat. Since then, Goku has always been one step ahead of Vegeta in terms of power level upgrades, and while their relationship has grown over the years from reluctant ally to genuine friend, their rivalry is still going strong as Vegeta will not rest until he has finally surpassed Kakarot.

In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 29 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, fans are made aware of another rivalry that has been raging throughout Dragon Ball history, one that is much older and more ferocious than that of Goku and Vegeta.
