Although Charlie technically has a lot of reasons to return home to the UK in How I Met Your Father season 2, the odds are good that the character will stick around for the show’s second outing. How I Met Your Father’s Charlie/Valentina romance saw the wealthy Englishman, Charlie, uproot his comfortable life in the UK and move to New York so he could be with Valentina. However, the story ended on a sad note when the couple broke up in How I Met Your Father's season 1 finale.
Charlie and Valentina weren’t the only couple to make up and break up in How I Met Your Father’s friend group. However, the duo was arguably the pairing who faced the most challenges, from Valentina wanting children when Charlie didn't, to Charlie struggling with his family’s disapproval of the relationship and feeling lost in the United States. However, despite their breakup, there is good reason to believe that Charlie will remain in the US when How I Met Your Father season 2 begins.

With no visa and no relationship to keep him in the US anymore, it would make a lot of sense for Charlie to return to England in How I Met Your Father season 2. This means that the character has a personal reason, a storytelling justification, and a practical obligation to keep him in New York for the action of How I Met Your Father season 2.
