EA Sports has brought out all the buzzwords for the announcement of Madden NFL 24, which is now officially confirmed and will release worldwide on 18th August, with a three-day Early Access period for those who purchase the more expensive Deluxe Edition. This year’s game will once again improve upon the FieldSENSE technology incorporated in Madden NFL 23, but will also add SAPIEN on PS5, which promises “new anatomically accurate NFL player skeletons”. There’ll be crossplay across next-gen platforms, too.
The pillars of the game include iterations on the Skill Based Passing and Hit Everything philosophy of its predecessor, but the publisher says it’s also improved the foundations of football, resulting in better AI decision making. The game’s also reintroducing an old favourite, Superstar, which will allow you to “build your legacy” with a custom avatar, and progress “from the combine to draft pick to 99 OVR”.
A new multiplayer option named Superstar Showdown will expand upon the reintroduction of this mode, where you’ll be able to play against and alongside friends in 3v3 matches. It should be noted that Superstar and its associated features will only be available on the PS5; those of you still playing on the PS4 will be stuck with Face of the Franchise and The Yard, which will presumably be re-skinned versions of last year’s modes.
The publisher’s also eager to point out that minigames are returning in Madden NFL 24, and you’ll be able to complete these to improve your team in Franchise, or tackle them separately from the main menu to help master the mechanics.
