Lies of P: How to Unlock The Hermit’s Cave (Secret Area)
The city of Krat in hosts many secrets, including an optional area called Hermit's Cave that can only be unlocked by gaining a rare item later in the game. This item is difficult to get, requiring you to speak to many NPCs and find other objects around the city. Traveling underground to another area infested with frenzied puppets can be far easier said than done for Geppetto's creation.
Before searching for ways to unlock Hermit's Cave, ensure you go through enough of the story to add Venigni to Hotel Krat. This eccentric inventor is a significant figure to discover after you defeat the King's Flame, Fuoco boss in , and lends you their services throughout the rest of your journey. Once this NPC is on your side, explore until you discover the Barren Swamp Bridge Stargazer, one of several fast travel points.

When you reach the Swamp Bridge Stargazer, speak to Rookie Explorer Hugo, a figure standing quite close to the fast travel point. Exhausting through all of their dialogue to receive the Cryptic Vessel, the NPC claims that he will open the gate leading to Hermit's Cave nearby if you stop and talk to him often. However, you can't rely on Hugo to do this in, so take the Vessel back to Venigni in Hotel Krat instead.
The next thing you will need is the Special Krat Supply Box, an important item used to expand shops back at Hotel Krat. You will be able to find this rare item by defeating a fire-spewing puppet on the side of the Collapsed Street, a place you may remember fighting the Mad Clown optional boss in . The Supply Box lies in a suitcase on a series of rocky platforms along the Street, which may be tricky to reach.
