It seems three of James Cameron’s films are getting the 4K treatment in total, with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action romp True Lies, and The Abyss joining Cameron’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s seminal 1979 movie Alien.
It’s long been hoped Aliens would join its predecessor in getting a 4K treatment, and The Abyss and True Lies have also starved of that.Dawn of the Discs posted news of all three listings.
There are few details beyond the listings at present, but you’d have to wonder if James Cameron is involved in these transfers and if Aliens: Director’s Cut will also get the facelift.
Aliens is considered one of the greatest sequels of all time, with Cameron finding fresh success following his smash hit film The Terminator. It sees the last survivor of The Nostromo, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), thrust into a new xenomorph nightmare as she joins a team of Colonial Marines in investigating the colony of Hadley’s Hope.
True Lies saw Cameron team with Schwarzenegger once more to create an explosive espionage movie that also starredJamie Lee Curtis.
The Abyss increasingly feels like a movie close to Cameron’s heart as an oil rig crew is sent to search for a lost submarine and encounters something otherworldly 25,000 feet below the waves.
We will update you on any official announcements for these 4K releases.
