Fede Álvarez Shares Inspirations for Alien: Romulus
Director Fede Álvarez shared some of the essential research materials he used in the making of the much-anticipated movie .
The Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead director took to social media to share the bibliography of Alien research he used to shape his movie. It’s certainly an extensive haul of Alien-based inspiration. There’s comic books, Making Of tomes, as well as video game, and movie art books.

Visually speaking, you can see where Álvarez will draw from for Alien: Romulus. Promisingly it looks like he’ll be taking inspiration from the first two movies and Ridley Scott’s return to that world with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Despite that, Álvarez has previously stated this will be unconnected to other films in the series, so there won’t be any Ripley or David story continuation.
We know little beyond that, but having the Colonial Marines Technical Manual there suggests they’ll be involved somehow.
Alien: Romulus wrapped production back in July. Uruguayan director Álvarez had originally casually pitched the idea to Ridley Scott years ago, and fate saw Scott later contact Alvarez to discuss making it a reality.
Alien: Romulus will be the fourth film directed by Álvarez. It’s based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues. The film’s cast will include Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy, Priscilla), Isabela Merced (Sicario: Day of the Soldado), David Jonsson (Industry, Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Tell Me Everything), and Aileen Wu. Alien and Prometheus director/creator Ridley Scott is producing alongside Michael Pruss.
