Going on a trip, but still want to bring a TV? LG has created a product just for the occasion.
LG's $999 StanbyME Go is essentially a 27-inch touch-screen display packed inside a durable suitcase, for those times you need a large display on a road trip or a flight. But the product isn’t just a portable monitor. Instead, it’s designed to function as a full-fledged entertainment system equipped with its own speakers, battery, and operating system.
The StanbyME Go promises to give people "a quality entertainment experience wherever they go without sacrificing convenience or quality,” the company said, meaning you won’t need to rely on a smartphone for your entertainment needs on a trip.
The StanbyME Go runs LG’s webOS, which is used on the company’s smart TVs. So you can access various streaming services on it, including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify. The product also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, and screen mirroring with iOS and Android devices.
On top of all this, the touch screen is attached to a stand inside the suitcase, allowing the owner to orient the display in different positions, including landscape and portrait modes.
In terms of specs, the StanbyME Go features a 1080p display with a 60Hz refresh rate, and it can run for up to three hours on a single charge. The product also includes a HDMI port and a remote.
Sales for the StanbyME Go will start later this month on LG.com. You can pre-order it now, which includes a free LG Xboom 360 Bluetooth speaker, valued at $299.99.
