Though LEGO Fortnite is fun and is, so far, deserving of its praise, there’s a major flaw with the game and it’s the building. Extremely ironic considering Fortnite and LEGO are all about building. Here are the community’s – and my! – thoughts on building in LEGO Fortnite.
In its current state, the building in LEGO Fortnite isn’t good. There are several reasons for this. First, you can’t level the ground. Second, the shapes of the building blocks don’t fit well together. Third, you can’t edit anything, so if you place something incorrectly, break out your Pickaxe.

Let’s start with the first issue: uneven ground. With no way to level the ground, you’ll start building your dream LEGO house and realize that part of the floor is forced up which makes putting all the pieces together impossible. An easy fix would be to allow us to sink and raise the blocks we are placing, but so far the building mechanics in LEGO Fortnite only work on a 2D plane.
One of the fundamentally flawed aspects of LEGO Fortnite is the building blocks you get don’t fit well together. I’ve seen so many Reddit posts about people making houses from scratch and getting to the end and the pieces don’t fit together. In Minecraft, everything is one by one. In LEGO Fortnite, most of the cool-looking blocks aren’t one by one which makes them extremely hard to work with.

Fourth, we desperately need a way to edit our builds. The build mode currently doesn’t have any way to move or delete blocks, so you’re forced to waste resources by breaking the block if you place it and it’s not in the exact right spot. An edit mode paired with the build
