Klonoa: Phantasy Reveire Series reelases on July 20 and marks the first time in 14 years since we've seen a new Klonoa game, and even then that was the Wii remake of Door to Phantomile. While not the mot well-known platformer out there, it does have a cult following, and fans will be pleased to hear that Klonoa producer Ryo Ishida is hoping that the success of the upcoming remaster will "reignite the Klonoa IP" and lead to more Klonoa games.
In an interview in the upcoming issue of game journal Lock On (shared via VGC), Ishida talks about his hopes that Phantasy Reveire Series will make people aware of Klonoa again, and thinks it's a great opportunity for people to play the original games before hopefully going on to make more.

"With Klonoa, since there’s been large gaps between the release of the games, at this 25th anniversary’s timing, we decided to release this title so people can play the original first," says Ishida. "And if this remastered version is loved by the community, there might be opportunities to further expand the Klonoa IP and do other remasters of other titles as well."
While Ishida seems excited to potentially introduce Klonoa to a new generation of gamers, the team behind the remasters remains grounded and explains that the remaster is primarily intended for those that have played the games before and want to support them.
"The main target is veteran gamers who still love Klonoa. As you know, Klonoa is a title and character that is still loved and supported by many people," explains marketing manager Moa Ikeuchi.
