The first track from Kingdom Hearts 4's soundtrack, Reality in the Dark, has finally been released thanks to it being ripped from the 20th-anniversary vinyl collection.
It's been some time since we heard anything about Kingdom Hearts 4 (aside from the scary notion that something recently changed the series' whole direction), but it looks like 2023 might finally give us another look. Things are starting off strong as we're only three months into the year, and we've already got the first song from the game's official soundtrack, Reality in the Dark.

Interestingly, Square Enix itself hasn't shared the track officially yet, instead putting it on the Kingdom Hearts 20th-anniversary vinyl LP box as a bonus track alongside the rest of the songs in the series. Kingdom Hearts fans who bought the vinyl LP, like YouTube user UmbraMuninn, have thankfully ripped the song from the vinyl and put it on YouTube so we can all give it a listen, this time without a bunch of battle noises.
Those of us who have watched the Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal a million times since it was released last year will no doubt remember Reality in the Dark as the track that plays throughout the trailer, from Sora waking up in Quadratum to him going up against the massive Heartless in the city. This time, however, there aren't any battle noises to distract from what is undeniably another banger from Yoko Shimomura.
This isn't the first time that Reality in the Dark has been played since Kingdom Hearts 4 was first revealed. Shimomura has been playing it live during showings of Kingdom Hearts Concert - Second Breath. Recording wasn't allowed during those concerts, as you'd expect, which means that
