One of DC Comics’ coolest tradition continues with the costumes of the Justice League 3000. Throughout comic book history, superheroes have been reinvented for a new generation of readers. The alternate future version of the team follow in the path set by the original Justice League.
The DC Universe has seen many iterations of the distant future, from Batman Beyond to Future State among others. However, Justice League 3000 presented an underrated take on the future heroes, in the titular series from 2013 written by J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen with art by Howard Porter. Set in the 31st Century, the Justice League has expanded its scope from America to the universe. Cloned versions of Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman carry on the legacies of the original roster, but with some alterations.

Justice League 3000’s take on the cloned team expands on DC’s tradition of revising their most famous superheroes with modern audiences in mind. Not only are their costumes updated beyond a few minor tweaks, but their powers are also slightly different. When writers and artists were reinventing DC’s most popular characters for a new generation of potential fans during the Golden Age, they left the Justice Society in the past and introduced the Justice League of America. The Flash was rebooted from Jay Garrick to Barry Allen, with a new suit to match. In a more drastic reimagining, Green Lantern went from Alan Scott to Hal Jordan, with a new costume design and additional backstory involving the Green Lantern Corps.
