The show's premise focuses on a catering team in Los Angeles who serve different types of customers every episode as they are moved around the city. The characters are portrayed by comedy's most famous names, with the cast starring Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplen, Ryan Hansen, Jane Lynch, and Martin Starr.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that there will be some new faces being added to the six-episode revival of the comedy series. Jennifer Garner, James Marsden, Tyrel Jackson Williams, and Zoë Chao will join the original cast. It is reported that the first three will be series regulars, with Marsden instead being a recurring character. Garner will play Evie, a movie producer who loses her way after a bad breakup. Williams plays a social media influencer called Sackson, with Chao's character Lucy being a food artist who dreams of becoming a celebrity chef. Lastly, Marsden's character Jack will be the star of a popular superhero movie franchise.

Fans of Party Down were delighted to hear about the reboot but also disappointed that Caplen would not be returning to the comedy show. This is due to conflicting schedules with her Hulu show Fleishman Is In Trouble and signing on to Paramount+'s upcoming Fatal Attraction. The show's creators, John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, and Paul Rudd, will all be executive producing, with Enbom being a showrunner. Scott is also expected
